Please help us pay our contributors!
Here at the Hamilton Review of Books, it is part of our mandate that we pay our authors for their work. As an independent publication, this is a challenging task that would not be possible without the support of readers like you.
For the month of September, we are asking our readers to help us meet our mandate by donating any amount ($5, $10, $20 or more). All proceeds go to paying our contributors. When you donate, your name will be added to the list of sponsors on our donation page unless you wish to remain anonymous.
Thank you so much for your support!

Here's what our past contributors have to say about us:
“I was thrilled to learn about the launch of the excellent Hamilton Review of Books and honoured to be able to contribute to its meaningful coverage of the arts in Canada. Thoughtful, nuanced coverage of our literature is so important and yet sadly it's increasingly rare. HRB is an important addition to Hamilton's thriving arts scene as well as a boon to the Canadian arts in general.
Hamilton's thriving arts scene finally has a outlet worthy of its awesomeness.” ~ Jennifer McCartney
“Getting published in Hamilton Review of Books marked the first time I had been compensated for my work. Getting paid is a big deal. In paying writers, magazines are not only concretely acknowledging the time and effort that goes into a piece of writing, they are also working to remove some of those barriers to entry that exist within literary communities, and which perpetuate a system wherein contributions only come from those who can afford to work without getting paid. Supporting magazines that pay their contributors, like Hamilton Review of Books, is an important part of building a literary community that is committed to publishing widely and diversely.” ~ Kathryn Stagg
“Hamilton Review of Books is a lively and much-needed independent voice in the Canadian literary scene.” ~ Christine Fischer Guy
“Hamilton Review of Books consistently delivers high quality reviews, essays, and perspectives on new writing in Canada. It's a vibrant and vital part of the Canadian literary ecosystem.” ~ Trevor Corkum
